Maddie is a 7-year-old girl who loves music and adventure, and just so happens to have a vision impairment. Triggs is her doggy best friend who loves doggy biscuits and mischief!

They live together with their mum and dad in a colourful town of Higgledy-Piggledy, and here they find music and adventure in the sounds of the everyday by really listening to the world around them.

The goal of Maddie + Triggs is to create a show whereby if two kids (one sighted and one vision impaired) sit down side by side to ‘watch’ the show, neither will have a lesser experience.

You can listen to full episodes of Maddie + Triggs on RTÉjr Radio, Spotify or wherever you get your podcasts.

“Inclusion is a word that we hear quite a lot of these days but meaningful inclusion actively seeks solutions to barriers and sends a powerful message to children with sight loss that opportunities for full participation in society exist. So we absolutely commend Turnip + Duck for their inclusive and positive approach and look forward to more exciting adventures for Maddie + Triggs!”

“All kids need to feel represented in media and the care that’s been taken with this programme in casting, in scripting and in planning has been a dream collaboration. In the gentlest way possible and without fanfare, Maddie is a hero whose vision impairment doesn’t hold her back but instead becomes a sonic superpower.”
